It’s the time to be giving

Christmas is upon us, the cold weather always gives that feeling, and the snow this year has really bought the Christmas spirit out of people. Shame it won’t be a white one, as it will probably start snowing again from January the 4th!



Saab, the Swedish car manufacturer recently carried out a survey on the amount of money a typical family spends on Christmas presents and how far they travel to get these presents delivered. The research suggests we spend on average £500 on presents and travel an estimated 200 miles to deliver them to our loved ones.



With this bit of information to hand Saab spent £500 on children’s presents and donated them to Bart’s and The London Children’s Hospital. The presents were bought from the Early Learning Centre and delivered in a used Saab 93X Abergele. The recipients of the presents were very grateful for the kind donation by Saab; this gesture from the car manufacturer should remind us all of what Christmas is all about, giving.



Jonathan Nash, Managing Director of Saab GB, said, "Christmas can be a difficult time of year for families who have a child in hospital. We wanted to make this Christmas a little bit special for all the children at the hospital by giving them the latest toys to play with over the holiday season. Barts and The London Children's Hospital are one of the UK's leading hospitals and care for more than 40,000 children and young people each year. We are delighted to link up with the Early Learning Centre and donate all these toys to the hospital."



Tracy Roe, Principal Play Specialist at Barts and The London Children's Hospital was very grateful for the donations and commented, "We would like to say a big thank-you to Saab and the Early Learning Centre for their kind generosity, I am sure that these presents will go a long way towards putting a smile on their faces."
